Is Apple One worth it for you after recent price hikes?

Apple has steadily expanded its services ecosystem over the past decade, transforming from a hardware-centric company into a major provider of digital subscriptions. From music and TV to fitness and cloud storage, there's an Apple service for almost every interest. Recognizing the potential to boost customer loyalty and revenue, Apple introduced Apple One in 2020 as a way to bundle multiple services at a discounted price. The bundles promised simplicity and savings, but with recent price hikes, many customers are questioning whether the value proposition still holds.

In July 2026, Apple announced price increases for Apple Music, raising its individual plan from $10.99 to $11.99 per month. Additionally, two of the three Apple One bundles saw price adjustments: the Apple One Family plan increased from $25.95 to $27.95, and the Premier plan went from $37.95 to $39.95 per month. Notably, the Individual plan remained at $19.95, making it an even more attractive entry point for single users. These changes have shifted the math for millions of subscribers, prompting a reevaluation of whether Apple One is still a smart financial move.

To understand the value, we must first break down the individual services and their standalone costs. Apple Music offers access to over 100 million songs, spatial audio, and curated playlists for $11.99 per month. Apple TV+ is priced at $12.99 per month and includes original series like Ted Lasso and Severance, along with live sports such as Major League Soccer and Formula 1 races. Apple Fitness+ provides guided workouts across 12 categories for $9.99 per month. Apple Arcade gives ad-free access to over 200 games for $6.99 per month. Apple News+ offers access to hundreds of magazines, newspapers, and premium digital content for $12.99 per month. iCloud+ storage plans start at $0.99 per month for 50GB, $2.99 for 200GB, and $9.99 for 2TB.

Apple One is available in three tiers: Individual, Family, and Premier. The Individual tier bundles Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and iCloud+ with 50GB of storage for $19.95 per month. Purchased separately, these services would cost $32.96, meaning subscribers save $13.01 per month. The Family tier includes the same services but with iCloud+ 200GB and allows sharing with up to five family members for $27.95. Separately, that combination costs $42.96, saving $15.01 per month. The Premier tier is the most comprehensive, adding Apple Fitness+ and Apple News+ to the mix, along with iCloud+ 2TB, for $39.95. The standalone cost of those six services is $72.94, resulting in a monthly saving of $32.99.

Beyond the raw numbers, the real question is whether you actually use enough of these services to justify the bundle. For someone who only subscribes to Apple Music and maybe iCloud, the Individual bundle could be overkill. However, many users find that once they have access to Apple Arcade or Apple TV+, they start using them. The convenience of a single bill and automatic syncing across devices also has intangible value.

The recent price hikes do not affect the Individual plan, making it an even better deal than before. However, the Family and Premier plans increased by $2 each. For families already using Apple Music and Apple TV+, the Family bundle still offers significant savings – and with 200GB of iCloud storage, it covers photo backup needs for most households. The Premier plan saw its savings shrink slightly but remains the best value for heavy users who also rely on Fitness+ and News+.

It's also worth considering competing services. Spotify offers a Duo plan for $14.99 and a Family plan for $19.99, but those only cover music. Apple Music's integration with the Apple ecosystem, especially with HomePod, Apple Watch, and spatial audio, gives it an edge for Apple device owners. For video, competitors like Netflix and Disney+ cost $15.49 and $13.99 respectively, but Apple TV+ is ad-free and often has high-quality content. Fitness+ competes with Peloton ($12.99) and other apps, but again, integration with Apple Watch and Health app is a differentiator. News+ provides access to premium outlets like The Wall Street Journal, though some users may find that redundant with other news apps.

Another factor is the recent addition of live sports to Apple TV+. Starting in 2024, Apple TV+ included MLS Season Pass matches at no extra cost, and F1 races were added in 2025. This dramatically increases the value of Apple TV+ for sports fans, something that competitors like Netflix lack. For someone who would otherwise pay for a separate sports streaming service, Apple One suddenly becomes much more compelling.

Ultimately, the decision comes down to individual usage patterns. If you already pay for two or three of the services included in a bundle, upgrading to Apple One is almost always cheaper. The math is straightforward: compare your current monthly spending on Apple services to the bundle price, and if the bundle is lower, switch. Even if you don't use all services, the extra ones like Arcade or Fitness+ might become pleasant surprises. For families, the Family plan is hard to beat, especially with shared storage and multiple user accounts. The Premier plan, while expensive, is ideal for a household that subscribes to most Apple services already.

As Apple continues to expand its services – with rumors of a standalone Passwords app, a health coaching service, and AI-powered upgrades – the Apple One bundles could become even more valuable in the future. For now, price hikes notwithstanding, the bundles still offer meaningful savings for most users. The key is to run your own numbers using the pricing table provided in the article. If you haven't reviewed your subscriptions lately, now might be the perfect time to see if Apple One can simplify your digital life and save you money.
